    Replacing wiper mechanism

I am struggling to replace the wiper mechanism on my S2 sport. The difficulty is getting the spindle nearest the motor up into its tube in the bodywork.
Any tips welcome. I remember it was tricky to extract 4 years ago..

    Re: Replacing wiper mechanism

Someone must have replaced the wiper mechanism! Encourage me! I am wary of using brute force... Be nice to know the car wasn't built up around the wiper mechanism!

    Re: Replacing wiper mechanism

Jonathan, I refitted my wiper motor and mechanism earlier this year, I found it was a struggle on a S2 coupe, I laid towel under the motor and slid the parts on that if they were difficult to line up. But they did line up, I did each shaft a bit at a time and then the next, the bolted the motor down, not easy. Not since found i only have the fast speed available, I need to check the wiring or switch. But you can fit it just do it slowly it will fit (just!). I might have some diagrams for the rear fuel pipe runs your are after, will look later.

(handbrake: If it is like the Coupe the hand brake cable runs along the near side inner sill, then the single black wire turns inwards in this will be with rear loom cabling, in front of the floor cross member in front of the seats to the handbrake.)

    jonathan,
my sport is s1 so may be different, but the wiring route for the hand brake is exactly as described in the previous post. i can get you the script locations from my car as well as the location of the rear hatch support but i am not sure they would be the same as your s2.

That would be very helpful, thanks...

Progress is a bit sporadic but this would help me complete some things...

    Re: Replacing wiper mechanism

I had another go at the wiper mechanism - putting both spindles up together, it all just went back in... I'm sure I tried that before!

So it does go in easily - just - making sure the spindle furthest from the wiper motor is in and held up followed by the one by the motor...

Now a bunch of other things can be fitted...
