    D50 driven by the Maestro

I am sure that most Lancisti have seen this but just in case this has not been seen, here is a clip of the D50 being driven by the Maestro at Monaco (in the 60s). The 4 wheel drifts show a real artist at work, Sunday driving at its very best.

Interesting to see all the safety clothing being worn (a short sleeved T-shirt, a leather helmut, a pair of goggles and a pair of gloves). What a different era!

This is a msut watch clip for those that haven;t seen it. ENJOY.

Thanks for posting that link, which I hadn't seen before. But it's not "in the '60s"; it's 1956, after Lancia transferred to D50s to Ferrari.

You're certainly not mistaken, though, about the display of car control. And his driving garb is indeed of another era, as is the line of parked cars by the curb heading from Ste. Devote up Beau Rivage (@ 1:40).

Great link, and for those who have never tried it, how to turn into a skid!
    There is another http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcuGReH52T0
a black & white clip which really shows Fangio's car control, don't know where the track is, but could you imagine the protests if F1 today had to drive on a surface like this.

Absolutely right (apologies, Richard); I hadn't considered the possibility that it was a demonstration on the 15th anniversary.

I didn't see the date of the clip. I was merely going by the parked cars which looked to be 60s. 15th anniversay, makes sense.

Thank you for posting this. I had not seen this before. Art in motion, both the car and the Maestro...I never got to see him drive in person, this was great!

Fantastic driver, Fantastic car. It`s a real shame that Alberto Ascari`s demise, lead to Ferrari`s gain. That a side you can not beat the sound of that engine and the rate that it revved. VIVA LANCIA!!!!

    not to forget the 2012 CNN advertising-clip for....umm- american-express ??

was it Senora Lella Lombardi driving in 2012 (or perhaps in 2011) the same F1 Monster that she 1st drove in 195? in....ummm...Monza ?? was she in a red Maserati in 19?? & 2012 ?

No, it wasn't Lella...it was another Lady Pilot with a lovely name that I can remember right now ... was it Senora de Fillipo ? The 1st woman to drive in a a F1 race.......

Lella drove much later than in the 50's ;in a much 70's ?? F1; perhaps a March
