I am not sure if I am the only one, but I am using the Pertronix with great success...

It is VERY easy to install and is readily available unlike some of the other options. It does not require you to change your distributor or coil...

Just grab the distributor and coil assembly from a Fiat 2000. You'll need to swap the drive gear with the original Scorpion, but other than that, it's a drop-in.
Which model from Pertronix is the correct application for the Scorpion?

1975 Montecarlo #370
1976 Scorpion #1062
The model number is: Pertronix Ignitor MR-LS1
I found it at:

And it took about an hour to install....

The Pertronix is a great way to go IF you carry a spare or your old original points and know how to replace them. This is not a reflextion on the Pertronix but the ever worriesome thought what IF.
While you are in there one serious problem with these old cars is their distributors are worn out. Wollering around like a drunken pig I think some on once described the typical old Fiat/Lancia distributors. Make sure yours is in good shape with good bearings and such.
Guy Croft talks about this in his book.
I used the Crane system for a lot on my cars and love them but I heard crane had gone away ////?????
Petronix is a good one for sure.
1978 Fiat Spider Black
1978 Fiat Spider Brown
1977 Lancia Scorpion Black
1981 Lancia Zagato Black
I suppose it never hurts to carry the old points for an absolute emergency. But the MR-LS1 is the newer "lobe sensor" type of Pertronix unit, and it's stunningly simple--a passive sensor and a lobed rotor collar--just a single rotating part. Works great for me.
