Downloads still not working

Hi,
I still have the same issue with downloads, That is it ends prematurely and the pdf is unopenable. Only with larger files it is as if there is a limit and it just ends when it gets to that limit. So knowing that there is work going on to reupload all the files there is no point to that if they cant be downloaded...

I really don't understand why you're having these problems, Allen. There are currently no limits imposed on uploads or downloads. It sounds as if your connectivity is going wonky during the DL. Do you use a download manager program of any sort?

Please tell me more about your computer configuration: Operating system, browser/version, type/speed of Internet access, etc.

I have several Windows and Macintosh computers running several flavors and versions of operating systems and several types and versions of browsers. I also travel all over the country with 2 different computers and have no trouble with downloads no matter where I am or which computer I'm using.

Just trying to figure out why you seem to have so much trouble with the files. I've only had a few folks ever have this sort of problem and most were on trans-Atlantic or trans-Pacific connections.

Are any other members here having problems with downloads?

I'm not having trouble with the downloads per se. But then I assume that the second dozen I uploaded simply haven't been processed yet, as they don't appear to be available in the "Downloads" section; the "Fulvia" section shows a count of 25 files, but only 13 actually appear (there's a page 2, but it lists no files).

So if this is simply a matter of the admin checking the files and letting them through, I'm having no trouble. But if they're supposed to post automatically, then there is still a problem.

zanetti, I'm not yet discounting that there could be something within the new forum software that's causing these problems but connectivity to South Africa always seems to be problematic. I have the same type of issues when connecting to SA sites from this end of the pipe.

The best thing I can recommend is to use a download manager which will allow resumption of broken downloads caused by connectivity issues. There are several of these software packages available for free. You can find them with a simple web search for "download manager".

Yeah. Apparently I have to approve all new submissions and this software has no provision for allowing automatic approval. I'm looking into whether it can be modified to do so.

Automatic approval sounds potentially dangerous. Anyway, I figured you just hadn't gotten around to the ones I uploaded yesterday evening.

Thanks for all your work in upgrading and managing the site. And we don't say that enough, IMO.

Hi, I tried explorer, firefox ,another computer, I tried a download manager I tried opening the file in acrobat I tried stopping it partly downloaded and resuming the next day. I remember with the old software and files people had made the same comments in the downloads section. The best I could track down the problem was that some of the software was no longer supported and hadn't been for years... I don't recall what the company was... I can download smaller files perfectly here and huge 100 megabyte files other places no problem. 79_Beta_Spider_Wiring stopped at 1.55 Meg as an example I don't need that file I was just checking to see if it was fixed now with your new software. If I knew where some of the files were besides here I would download them from another location just to help solve the mystery.....I hate to see you spend time uploading files if they are corrupt or whatever.... -Allen

I forgot to mention I also tried with my firewall and antispam and anti virus etc all disabled. Cookies cleared ... Dialup.

I think your problem is that last word--dial-up. I'm running IE8 with both firmware and software firewalls, didn't even bother to clear cookies, and I uploaded a 14Mb file with no problems at all. But that's with DSL.
