    Re: 3C GT Rusteration

Todd, Time flies when you're having fun..!?

Great to see you are still greatly, slowly restaurating the in my opion most beautiful Lancia ever made.

Last year I saw one for the first time in person. Lancia blue.. I could stare at her for hours...
Looking forward to see yours when its finished.

Slow and steady wins the race? By the way, I'm very impressed with the fabrication work you've done in this thread; Some seriously impressive panel replication!

    Re: 3C GT Rusteration

Happy Presidents day or Family day as it is here in Canada.
I had a chance to work on the Flaminia Gt's front suspension today. Its taken a while to get it cleaned up but its almost ready to paint. The pictures show in a nutshell why Lancia went broke. The beautifully cast aluminum piece is a combination of the shock tower and the upper and lower A-arm bridge. I scraped all the crap off it with a dental tool, then scrubbed it with a tooth brush and gasoline then hit it with paint remover to get where it is. I'm thinking of painting it with semi-gloss Por-15 . If anyone has any other suggestions I'm open to it. I've never used Por-15 but maybe the price is justified?
Notice the copper plating on all the bolts.

    Re: 3C GT Rusteration

Hmmm.. I see the pictures in both posts.

Anyway, I'm not sure if using POR-15 would have much benefit on an aluminum piece like that (especially considering all the prep work it takes and then that you'd likely need to put a top coat over it anyway since it has poor UV resistance). Maybe others will chime in about it's usefulness on Aluminum.

I'd probably leave it bare, but assuming you're going for an origional as possible look?

    Re: 3C GT Rusteration

It looks to me that the whole subframe, suspension and steering components were assembled together and then painted a semi gloss black together. The heads of the bolts that hold the steering damper and steering gear were painted after they were assembled and then dabs of yellow paint were put on the castellated nuts once they were tight.

    Todd,

looks really nice (I can see the photos)!! You should consider to check and replace the rubber/metall bushes of the suspension arms now (if necessary). You won´t be able to do that when installed.

    Re: 3C GT Rusteration

    Hi Todd,
Not sure what's going on but I still can't see anything, but going back through your posts I can't see any of the photos, although Im sure when we were discussing the shocks I could.
Even more puzzling is I seem to be able to see them on other posts?
I'll look on my desk top and see if I can see them from on there, instead of on my phone.
Is anyone else unable to see them please.?

    Re: 3C GT Rusteration

I can see both sets of photos.

Semi-gloss black paint would be correct for the suspension.
