    S1 light switch

I haven't driven my Fulvia for quite some time and I'm getting it ready for its annual MOT. I am checking the lights and are confused if what I see is normal or not.
Pulling the light switch with ignition on lights the city lights and the rear lights. Rotating and pulling again gives power to the Low beams. (outer lights). However if I push the column stalk the outer lights and the inner lights show Hi beam. Is this correct?

    Cheers,
    william

    You are good.

Light switch first position: parking lights (stalk pulled back) or dipped main lights (stalk pushed forward)
Light switch second position: dipped main lights (stalk pulled back) or high beam lights (all four) (stalk pushed forward)

Reading your message again, it may be I read it wrongly/ at the first switch position, lights switch between parking ligths and dipped beam.

Without actually going out and trying my light switch, I seem to remember in first position with stak pulled up the dipped beams are on, and when you push the stalk down in goes onto sidelights?
I know I had a nasty experience the first time I drove my 2c in the dark, as the stalk had weak springs and while indicating I accidentally push the stalk down leaving me on a very dark road with only the parking lamps.
Or is my memory failing? (not unlikely)

    Re: S1 light switch

The lighting of my car behaves like everybody says: pulling the switch out powers the sidelights, instruments and rear lights. Full pull, twist CW and pull again powers the dipped beams en pushing the stalk forward gives 4 mains and turns on the blue warning light (why do the British call warning lights Idiot Lights?).

    Thanks all!

    cheers,

cause we're too dumb to use an actual gauge or realize if something is turned on or off. americans use the term as well...
or, the light is dumb and only give yes/no answer, not real information.
