    Engine Clanking Sound

My Monte has a "clanking" sound that occurs intermittently when at idle. Goes away when engine is revved and when driving. Any thoughts?

Could be a lot of things. Loose pulley, cat. going bad, bad motor mount, etc, etc. Do you have a mechanic's stethoscope to listen around different places while it idles?
Alternately you can use a piece of hose or along screwdriver with the handle against your ear to listen for undue vibrations, etc. Let us know if you can locate it at all

Thanks! My mechanic is going through it now. As it is only at idle, I double it is a loose motor mount, there is no cat as it is a Euro Monte. Sounds like it could be a pulley but not obvious. Will let you know.
