    What size is my clutch?

Im going to upgrade my clutch pressure plate to a diaphragm one but it looks like there are 2 sizes for a series 1 (180mm and 200mm). Is there an easy way to find out which one I have?

    Thanks in advance, Wil

Probably best just to separate engine and transmission and measure it.

You could possibly tell by seeing if the current diaphragm mounting plate (just referring to the part of the diaphragm that actually gets bolted to the flywheel) mounts into the flywheel and is flush with the back of it or if it sits on top of it. This could be seen potentially by taking off the covers on the bell housing and looking inside or using a cheap wifi endoscope.

If you want to try and identify it this way I can try to show you with pictures the differences in the flywheels/ way the pressure plates mount. One of my engines has 180 and the spare I have has the 200mm one so I can take some pictures for you if you want.

The 180mm version the diaphragm just bolts to the back of the flywheel, but with the 200mm version I have the flywheel is made so that the diaphram plate is inset the thickness of that plate (made it very hard to remove btw).
