    Re: Event Pictures

    The "event" was the recent "Spring Thaw" rally of 90 pre-1980s (ish) cars through south-central British Columbia. We drove almost 2,000 kms through some of the most beautiful roads anywhere, in snow, rain, and sunshine, at a pace ranging from "practicing-for-the-Grand-Prix" to "merely spirited". This picture was taken on one of the free ferries crossing the Arrow Lakes, and features my '72 1,600 plus the beige Sport seen in a previous photo! ....and I clearly don't know how to add pictures that are automatically large.

    Nice shot Thor! But 'beige'? Please - Avorio Santa Anita is what you meant!

    Here is another from the ferry line up. That was a fun rally - highly recommended to anyone looking for a budget minded way to terrorize the British Columbia backroads!

ID:	14802Last weekend was the Hagerty sponsered Silver Summit Rally, 55 '50's thru '80's cars driving 900 miles over 3 days in the Colorado mountains. Great weather for a while, followed by cold, snow and dark skies. Some early roadsters drove the whole way top down! I was glad to have my heater and wipers working. My 180 HP Subaru engine kept me close to the fast guys while climbing through the mountains.Click image for larger version.

    Named, as all Lancia colors of that period were, after a horse racing track -- in this case, the Ivory is named for a US track in Southern California, still very much in use

    interesting ;

    I always wondered why there was 'Ostend Green' ( City here in Belgium at the coast with no green, just concrete, bricks and (beige ) sand...and a horse racing track )

    Saratoga white, Saratoga in N.Y., but why the white ?

    I don't think there's any connection between the colors and the tracks

    Ed as I understand it the names are connected to horse racing tracks.
    My 2c Is Doncaster Grey, Doncaster has a horse racing track,
    Newmarket-There's a track,
    Saratoga same.
    Along with a lot of the other colours, I don't have the full list to hand.

    Brian,

    With all due respect, you're missing my point. As I said earlier, the colors were all named after horse racing tracks ("Named, as all Lancia colors of that period were, after a horse racing track "). What my last post meant was that there's no connection between a particular color and the particular track it was named after (i.e., there's no particular reason why Saratoga is white while Ostend is green or Santa Anita is ivory.

    Sorry Ed,
    My mistake I missed your earlier posting.
