    Front Wheel Bearing

    Hi All,

Wondering if anyone can help me. I brought my 1976 Fulvia in for an annual inspection and the mechanic found that my right front wheel moved considerably when he jacked the car up and checked it. He is surmising that I have a bad outer wheel bearing. Wondering if anyone knows the correct procedure to replace it. Can I do this job myself?

    Thanks for any help.

    Re: Front Wheel Bearing

There is only one bearing and it is a big one. You need 2 special tools which can be bought I think from Omicron. You need to read up about it if you are to tackle the job your self. Drive shaft has to come out and you need means to hold the special tools onto the inner or outer hub/bearing nuts. Torque is very high and you can easily damage the tools. Bearing is expensive too.

    Thanks lancialulu,

Could use a little more detail in removing the axle. Does the bearing need to be pressed out/in?

Doubt Omicron would hire across the pond....and the rear wheels have a different tool!
