    Dellorto DHLA 40 Control Question

    Hi Guys,

I am hoping for some assistance please.

The plan is to fit a set of Dellorto DHLA 40 carbs on my S2 Fulvia 1.3. I have managed to get the correct inlet manifold so all good.

Problem is the carbs came without linkages. Is there anyone out there with a similar Dellorto carb setup that can share what their linkage and cable controls setup looks like? Some photos if possible please?

Below are some examples of what is available but I'm not sure what type adapts best to the existing cable control setup.

    Any assistance appreciated.

    Regards
    Jacque.

All those look a nightmare and probably give you a height issue under the bonnet.

Can you not find a coupling of the two throttle spindles like the Fulvia Solex type?

    Long time lurker etc.

I assume the DHLA 40's are very similar to DHLA 35's, which I happen to have on my series 2 1.3s.
Hopefully I will now successfully attach images showing how they work with the standard linkage...

The trumpets in the shot are from a 1.3HF, I've just reinstalled the original airbox but have yet to run it to see if there is any perceivable difference.

GP4 wider spaced inlet manifold? The trouble with the DHLA carbs is the wider spacing of the barrels, unless this is a special version of the DHLA that I don't know about, with the narrower barrel spacing?

It would be interesting where you got the jetting data from. Experimental?

The 35 you had are likely DHLBs.

OK, now I understand: the pictures are from DHLB 35 carbs, that do fit the standard inlet manifold. The DHLA carbs have a wider barrel spacing, and need a GP4 inlet manifold, or the adaptor that is sometimes being between the standard manifold and the wider spaced DHLA barrels.

Whoops, yes they're DHLBs on standard manifold. Bought as NOS in the '90's. Apparently imported into NZ in the '70's for racing Honda Civics....

Re: Dellorto DHLA 40 Control Question

    Hi,

thanks for the feedback, the DHLA 40's require a different inlet manifold to make them fit.

I didn't spend much time before on researching but have now found some more detail online that gives me a much better idea of to do the controls. Attached are some examples of what the setup will look like.

    The following helps alot:

I need to have a look but should be able to use / mod the existing Solex controls.

    Thanks for the responses.

    Bets regards
    Jacque.
