    Replacemant of subframe rubber joints

Hi everybody, searched the forum without much success, need advice please:
The rubber bumpers between subframe and body on my Fulvia Coupe series 2 need to be replaced, the clearence is presently close to zero.
The body seems to be solid at the joints. And yes, there is a small crack in the left wheel arch.
I had replaced the engine support rubbers before without problems.
Now i tried to start with the aft subframe rubbers, loosened the two front screws and removed the 4 upper and aft ones.
Checked all hoses and cables, loosened the exhaust middle joint and lifted the car at the front subframe to get enough clearence.
Everything looked pretty promising, exceept that i didn't think of the steering...
Is there a simple way to remove the steering axle from the steering gearbox or ist there a totally different approach recommended?

Can't help with your question, but reading that you have a crack in the wing would have me looking very closely the rear subframe mountings, as a crack in the wing is usually a sure sign of failure here.
It's not an easy, but a costly job to get these boxes replaced, and to be honest if this is your problem then it's your Number 1 priority, as the car is dangerous to use in this condition.

A less frequent, but also possible cause for the crack in the wheel arch is a broken subframe. As shown by my car...

under the bonnet there is under a black rubber gaitor (carefull, quite expensive) 1 bolt at the axle.
loose that and then from the inside some bolts to get the steering complex loose.

with " a little" persuasion (carefull with the dents on the steeringbox ) you can move the steering colom upwards.

    hope this helps, Geert.

this is to answer your question.
the caveat's (is there a plural ?) in the previous answers are to be taken seriously, but as you mention the crack by yourself, you are probably aware

Re: Replacemant of subframe rubber joints

    Thank you.

@Brian, yes i am aware of that, rear mountings look solid,
hope to get a closer look when there is enough clearance to
    remove the rubber parts.

@Bernt, can you please tell me where exactly your subframe was broken?

@Geert, great, that is the pieco of information i was looking for.
I was able to locate the mentioned
    nut in the parts catalogue.

    Again, thank you.

    Maximilian.

sorry, no. I didn't do the work myself, and ended up with a good replacement. So I never saw the broken part.
