I enjoyed it too, made me want to replace my plastic dash.
Funnily enough I have only ever seen plastic dashboards in series 1 cars. I have several series 2/3 dashboards in real wood

If that's what a nice S2 is going for to a 'broker' then maybe its time to sell my S1.

It was a nice surprise to see Adan at the end. It would have been hard to believe that they'd do a Fulvia in SoCal and not involve him somehow.

The S1 is thermoplastic with a genuine wood veneer.

Thats what the dashboard in the s2 car on WD looked like last night, even down to the markings on the back.
I wonder if it was a S1 part cut down to fit a S2?

i thought they were all plastic with wood veneer. i would think plastic would be a more stable substrate and resist warping and cracking. the laminated dash with plywood backing wouldn't be bad, but would take a bit of staining/painting on the beveled edges to look right.
mine is in pretty good shape for being 40 plus years old, and if i ever decide to re-do it, i'll strip the veneer and re cover the plastic backer with sapele, and spray a nice satin or matte finish.

My fulvia 3 montecarlo had a faux wood painted plastic dash that looked less than satisfactory. I used a two ply Sepele veneer (Two 1/64th layers) Bonded with a contact cement, trimmed with a razor knife to keep the original bevel, finished in semi gloss. Hoping the two ply will prevent cracking in the narrow areas between the instruments. So far so good. There are some recessed areas on the back side of the plastic needed to clear screws and panel nuts around the instruments for a proper flush fit. I’d put up a pic but don’t know how to do that from an iPhone.

Nice show. Also liked the dashboard replacement. A couple of years ago, I found a wooden dashboard on Ebay was 100 EUR, very happy with the polished, mahogni finish.

As others noticed, the mechanic on this show knows his stuff - that axl job is a fidl.

Are Fulvias that expensive in the US?

My dad and i stared at each other with dropped jaws when he mentioned the sale price, needless to say!

That dash actually came up really well, its made me finally start to remove mine to get it veneered.

Im looking for an original finish, was it just a mahogany veneer used?

    Fun to watch.

With the dash out they could have removed the non-working clock and have that repaired.

The epilogue should explain if they paid short term capital gains on that flip or what.
