    shipping costs stratospheric !

Was about to place an order with Cicognani for a small 12 euro item...
Shopping window informs me that "express shipping" cost is 60 euros !
No other method of shipping is given ( ex-Italy it seems ).

Most other Italian parts suppliers have a cheaper air mail option for shipping.

What's wrong with Cicognani? Anyone had similar experiences?

That is a ridiculous cost for sending a small lightweight parcel....

Well you are half the way round the world! But seriously email them and also try Elvesio who sell same products, and email them. I have found the later quite helpful. Tim

Contact them. It is a symptom of the "computer age" with on-line shopping, a computer calculating the shipping cost, and not doing it right in function of the weight.

Had the same kind of trouble with other on-line orders in other places.

They may propose a more reasonable shipping cost if you ask them. At least, I got (not with
    Cicognani
) for most of the companies I complained to.

    Thanks gentlemen for your advice.

It was getting so that I might as well fly over and pick up the parts myself!

UPDATE: I have just heard back from Cicognani and they will "just this once" look into using their postal service.

So I may get the parts sent by air mail (as I respectfully suggested to them) at a much kinder rate.

    Fingers crossed!

For small items coming out of Italy or the UK, I've found that the postal system is the cheapest -- and the fastest as it typically does not get held up in customs

Cavalitto (IT) send stuff to me (UK) next day (DHL) for c20eu for a small package (20cm3). Try ElvesioEsposito for rubber part.

Yes, I have had parts come recently by airmail postage from Europe to Australia in less that a week - which is quite good service via the post office.

There even was some sort of tracking service provided...

And I have had courier services in similar time or just a day ot two less.

It appears that the parts suppliers think everyone wants parts super-urgently so they use DHL etc etc, but you pay a premium.

A few more options for less expensive delivery would be nice (hint, hint).
