Chaulk marks, stickers and other original details

    Hello,
    Concerning my 1966 1,2litre coupe.
From factory, were there stickers and chaulk marks ( from the production line ) one could copy to get the «day one» look, like when the car was brand new?
I have a FISPA sticker on the air cleaner box, and two data plates in the engine bay.
Perhaps there were paint code stickers somewhere on the car?

Secondly, was the trunk painted black or with body colour?

Very unclear. I've seen both. Most are black, though. My old S3 had the trunk in body color, even the cross behind the rear seat was painted metallic brown (both sides!), but without clear varnish.

    Thanks for the reply.
    How about wheel wells?
    Body colour or black?

S1 Coupé is body color in the engine compartment and wheel wells, and satin black in the trunk (boot). Aside from the chassis plate, there’s a lubrication plate on the underside of the hood (bonnet), a sticker on the airbox, and a type stencil on the left leg of the subframe. No chalk marks that I’ve ever seen. But the suspension bolts and other critical bolts have yellow QC paint stripes.

    Thanks Ed!
I seem to have most of the details in place then.

Originally the boot should be satin black like Ed states but done by a painter with a back problem. He spray painted what he could hit without bending forward. Meaning the top of the inner wings have little or no black paint. Also the painters of the body probably had back problems. The only thing which was done properly was the dipping in the primer bath. This covered the whole body in a white primer coating. You will spot this under the dash and under the front and rear wings and under the roof. In 1999 I asked the painter of my 1966 HF to try to repeat this poor application. This was the first time a customer asked him to do a poor job;-)
The underside was always coated in bitumen, which was called Anti Rombo at the time. Sound deadening. Also the HF received this coating. Fulvia's never had a unprotected body colored underside.
The sticker on the airbox was no sticker but a paint stencil. I believe Omicron has a stamp for this you can borrow.
The subframe stencil was applied on non oil cooler equipped cars were the oil cooler is placed in coupe and zagato 13S and Fanalones. On 13S and fanalone the stamp was rotated 90 degrees and applied to the Lh fore/aft subframe beam.
HT leads were fitted with aluminium collars with printed cilinder numbers on both sides of each lead. Not sure if S1 cars had a paint code sticker in the glovebox lid. I know S2 cars had one.
All hose clips had dark yellow check markings. So have all cotterpins. Gearbox dipstick and steering box filler and adjuster screws. Many more structurally important fasteners had ocher paint markings like for example the brake caliper bolt and lockplates.
I have found on a 100% original 10.000 mile 2C saloon I once owned that all steering joints and ball joints nuts have the yellow markings but also a red marking. Double inspection for these crucial safety elements. Lancia engineering and build quality!

    Cheers,
    William

Yes -- after I posted remembered I hadn't noted the paint code sticker on the inside of the glove box door. And at this point, original yellow QC paint has age-darkened to a dark yellow or orange.
