    Re: Dual Weber Carb Kits?

The issue isn't the angle, which is indeed the same for all Beta-engined models, though of course a manifold meant for Fiat models won't have the correct angle for any Beta. However IIRC, the Alquati...
  2. For Sale: Re: (almost) NEW Lancia Beta transaxle, or parts, for sale

Could be something they started doing when they introduced other final-drive ratios and/or started stocking replacement units; if so, these might reasonably be presumed to have the earliest ratio...
  3. Re: 1981 pagato don't know if i should paint or sell

Agreed on leaving the paint as-is if you're going to sell it anyway; you probably won't get a return on the investment of a decent paint job, and a cheap Maaco/Scheib job may not help it sell anyway...

    Re: Beta cam identification

With hot carbs, hot cams would make sense to take better advantage of the better breathing. AFAIK, only FI Betas came with cam-end driven dizzys as stock; however, that dizzy mount may have been a...

    Re: Beta cam identification

No idea if they're aftermarket cams but probably not; they appear to be for a Beta with fuel injection, going by the distributor drive slot on the end of the exhaust cam.

Re: How Many 82 Zagatos Remain ?

According to Brian Long's Lancia Beta collector's guide book, there were 2,076 '79-81 Zagatos imported and only 791 '82s, no further breakdowns given by year. I'm not sure the VIN can be decoded to...

Re: s3 Instrument Binnacle removal ?

By s3 I infer you mean a Fulvia 3, which is really just an s2 with some cheapened/updated trim materials (e.g. plastic grille and steering wheel, etc.), so the engineering per se is no different from...

Re: 1981 Beta Under hood Ignition Help

Battery Group 42 is the correct size, but groups 90 and 96R will also fit -- the latter only differ in cleat placement along the bottom edges and usually have a "penthouse" on top for extra charge...

Re: 1981 Beta Under hood Ignition Help

First thing I'd replace is the magnetic pickup in the dizzy, unless maybe the one you've got looks brand-new including (especially) the wires from the pickup itself to the grommet where the harness...

Re: 1981 Beta Under hood Ignition Help

IIRC, the FI models ('81-82) had a brick-style coil (not cylinder-style) mounted to a bracket on the driver's side strut tower. Standard 12v electronic ignition, I think with a GM-style HEI control...
  12. Re: "resurrecting" a Scorpion for 24 Hours of LeMons

Make sure you're using an OEM/NOS oil pressure switch and sender. The aftermarket ones I've tried on my LBZ have been flaky, gave me a few panic moments and even led me to needlessly replace my oil...

    Re: RR Brake Caliper Problem

I didn't because the rubber dust boot was intact and had a tight seal.[/QUOTE]

To clarify, I didn't mean removing the piston/seal entirely to clean them but, rather, just solvent-rinsing any...

    Re: RR Brake Caliper Problem

Hm, could just be some debris got between the piston and seal, if you're lucky. Did you thoroughly hose down the piston and seal with brake cleaner before you screwed it in?

    Re: need some cams advice

My understanding is that hot cams aren't of much benefit with stock US-market compression remaining as a bottleneck; it's like adding lanes leading up to a single-lane tollbooth. A rebuild with...

Re: Coolant Leak in my '81 Zagato

The HVAC box condensation drain also serves as a coolant drain in case of a leaking heater core. Good replacement cores are almost impossible to find, and removing the HVAC box to swap the core is no...

Re: How Many 82 Zagatos Remain ?

The Beta family were brilliant winter drivers for their time, so the coupes, sedans and HPEs saw more daily-driver duty in all weather until road salt and moisture disintegrated them, whereas Zags...
  21. Re: Zagato dies out, electronic ignition module again?

Check the magnetic pickup sensor in the dizzy, common failure point as the wire pigtail connecting to the actual pickup can degrade due to ozone created by the spark gap between rotor and terminals....

Great, glad to hear it! Could also be that the lines weren't fully primed, or maybe the fuel pickup in the tank had some rust or other debris blocking it that fell away. I once suspected that on my...
