    To be completely fair to the previous owner and the person I engaged for the inspection, the vehicle was sold to me as a “1600” which the inspector said “was probably a 1300 head on a 1600 block”....

    You are probably right but once it is back from the body shop I will have to see if it runs nicer with 35's or 42's bolted on.

    Where we stand right now....

    head - 818.140 cast in mid 71.
    Crankcase as per photo - 818540 and 70 in a rounded (casting date?)
    block - 818540. Casting date barely readable but looks like 70....

    I will have better access today to get a list of all the casting numbers on this engine!

    The head hasn’t been separated - only the rocker cover has been off. Trying to avoid that at this stage.

    Sapele is on order - there are so many fascias with different hues in a simple google search that I think it will look acceptable. Certainly better than the sun bleached version I have...
