  1. Building a 1/20 scale D-50 #11

The D-50 is looking more and more like some crazy V-8 rat rod! Wait till you see pics of it with the exhaust attached.
I've been busy working on the wheels as well as putting the cooling fins and brake lines on the brake drums. The fuel ? tank is on but I need to connect it to the fuel shut off valve which is that yellow knob in the cockpit.
I mentioned in the last post that a pin head is too big to replicate the many rivets on the side tanks, but the diameter of the pin itself looks ...

  3. Building a 1/20 scale Lancia D-50 #10

Its been a while since I posted any pics of the D-50. I'm slowly making some progress on the body work. The resin cockpit sides have been epoxied to the white metal top pieces that hold the instrument gauges and the cold air duct. They need to be filled and sanded a bit more. I bought some pins to simulate the rivets but they are still too big. If I cut the heads off them, then it looks to scale but then you need to figure out how to ca glue them in.
In the meantime, I've been working on ...

  4. Building a 1/20 scale Lancia D-50

I've been very busy lately trying to bring my Zagato back to life. I've got the engine back in and it should be up and running soon. The HPE completed its first road trip to Watkins Glen flawlessly, so now I can remove all the spare parts and tools I had in the back for the trip.
Its been kind of nice to take a break from the D-50, but I'm making progress again. The next stage of the build is the bodywork. But, much like real cars, bodywork sucks! The body is fitting nice but there is a ...

  5. Building a 1/20 scale D-50 #8

    Hello fellow Lancisti,
I've been working on the 4 downdraft weber carbs and the associated fuel system. The carbs have turned aluminum velocity stacks and a small photo etch plate on the top. The kit comes with a male and female mold press that when you put the photo etch filter screen in and squeeze , it puts a nice curve into it. The fuel filter is mounted on the frame and I added fuel lines to it plus the familiar yellow flexible fuel lines. I'm starting to dry fit the body panels to ...
