  1. Sub frame clean up

    The sub frame was a bit large to put into my blasting bag - and I didn't want the media ending up in all the moving parts, so cleaning it up was down to a wire brush on a drill..


    Someone had painted bits of the front sub frame with some red-oxide at some point in the past

  2. Exhaust manifold heat shield...

    Sunday I fabricated a heat shield from some surplus stainless steel range hood duct cover I had. First task was to make a template, I worked with corrugated cardboard.



    Next the rough cut. That tab on the right is to provide added protection to the coolant hoses exiting the head just to the right of the exhaust manifold.

  4. Knowing when to stop...

  5. An easy 'car free' weekend.

    I wasn't going to do any 'car' stuff this weekend.

    ....But on the way home from work on Friday I got thinking. The shell is going to be painted soon (real soon), and do I want it sitting on the dolly in the garage? It might be better to put the rear axle and front subframe back on. That way I'd have a rolling shell..

    That means work on the subframe would need to accelerate. It's in very good nick, I just want to give it a good protective coating. The engine was removed ...
