Hey Dudes,

Very cool tank... Does this mean your Scorp is up and running?

Not quite, but very, very close. Motor's running, but I have the pedal box out. Both MC's are toast as the hydraulics have sat dry for years. While I'm in there, I'm also replacing the brake pedal with Chad's upgraded assembly and doing the 3 pipe conversion. I'm trying not to "deadline" myself, but Spring for sure.

Hi, I don't suppose this tank is still available?
Thanks

Assuming John O has sold his aluminium header tank, does anyone have the contact for the company in the US that was manufacturing aluminium tanks, (i'm sure there was a thread about it on the forum somewhere but I can't find it)
I can't put the old plastic one back in; it's just too shonky, so it's bite the bullet and buy a new shiny one.

many thanks

It wasn't actually a tank that I was selling, but a tank I had made by the same company that built Tony Fasola's. I was just letting folks know these are now available. The company has assigned it a part number so you can simply order your own. Read about it here: http://www.ovingtonpaint.com/fiat/id24.html

BTW, here's a link to my original post in the For Sale section:

BUT BEFORE YOU ORDER, you need to know it took a few tries for them to get it right and it still has one minor problem that I'll likely have them fix over the winter. I'm still very impreseed with it and I'm glad I have the aluminum tank over the 30 year old plastic one.

The problems that I had to send the tank back to have remedied were A) left-to-right placement of the top/bottom tabs didn't alow level mounting to the exsiting points in the car, B) the stock cap would not fit the filler neck.

The last probelm which has caused no end to tracking down an overheat issue is that their top return tube stops at the top of tank rather than mimicking the stock tube which end deper in the tank, around the mid-point in the tank. Even with this problem, with every last burp of air bled from the system, it operates very well.

Would I do it again? Probably. Nothing "custom" is ever a perfect fit the first time.

I also added a TR-4 overflow bottle from Moss Motors since the filler neck on the aluminum tank has a larger overflow tube accomdating recovery of coolant otherwise lost; ya know, like a real car. LOL. I think this is another good mod to the cooling system for avoiding air entering the system - as the system cools, it can only suck in coolant through the pressure cap and not air as on the stock set-up - again, like a real car!

Hope that helps.
