Does anyone have the actual color code that can be used for mixing the red (rosso) color of the 76 Scorpion/Montecarlo?

Would also like to find the correct color code for the gray trim.

Scorpion #1288 is now in the hands of an excellent paint and body man for a spanking new paint job. Supposedly will be done sometime in April. Can't wait!!!

DJ,
I had my car painted a few years ago and also looked for the original color code. My painter though he had found it but my car wound up being a shade more orange than the original. It is an original red - orange as I believe yours is. Anyway, my painter said that because he used polyurethane paint it came out slightly off color. I dont know if this a true or not but if I was to do it again, I would look for a modern car of the same color. Red Mustangs a few years old, look the same color to me. Dave Shindle had his painted Testarossa red. I have not seen this car in person, but in the photos, it looks very close to the original red-orange to me.
Good Luck,

DJ,

Why not just have them scan a color sample from the underside of the front lid? I have had this done on other cars for both single-stage urethanes and bc/cc.

Or, a bit out of the way here, but there is an autobody supply place in Eastlake, Ohio (eastern suburb of Cleveland) called Premier Paint Technologies that has old FIAT paint chip cards from the 70s and early 80s. I found the exact match for my (former :() Scorp there. At first I gave him the color code number from the panel by the battery, and when he referenced a code that was supposed to go with that number, the finished thing he mixed up was the wrong shade of blue. So he just had me sift through the cards, and I found the same color (alongside a nearly identical blue) as a FIAT color of another year. He had the code for it, and I'd never seen a more perfect match. Point is, find a body shop with chips, and look at all the 70s-80s Fiat and Lancia chips, because you might find it in a different year. The guy's name at Premier is Sean; I can give you contact info if you like.

You've got a couple of choices:
a) check the code on the car and match original paint and formula, i.e.

Code: 86984644 = DuPont 847-CF-631

(Mike P has a list of the colors on his site)

OR

Use another (modern) paint which has already been color matched, i.e.:

Sikkens Rosso Red, AZCO code: LAN159
You can get the formulas for the different bases on Sikkens' website:

example: Autocryl Plus

Information
Make Lancia-Autobianchi
Color Code
Description Rosso
AKZO Code LAN159

Mixing Color Amount (Cumulative)
A273 637.1
A160 640.0
A110 656.5
A277 726.4
A345 1048.9

On the gray stuff, I used Plasti-Kote 1543 M (charcoal gray metallic) followed by two coats clear. the nice part about that is, touch-ups are available in a $6 can instead of a $300 custom mix. There's a lot to be said for that since shelf life on auto paints once mixed is often only about six months.
