Ya, I saw that. Since it's 1980 vintage, I was wondering if that makes it more of an S2 manual. I'm pretty sure by the time if finishes the price will be untouchable.

it will be first series only they never issued manuals in full format for s2 (as far as I know) and this manual is in the early binder style much nicer than the paperback reprints done later it's print date will be earlier than 1980, this sellers stock seems to come from the AA technical library I bought one item from him and it was in very clean condition no oily finger marks etc....

I have a couple of those.... Maybe I should sell one, they appear to have gone up in value!

The thing went for 87 UKP???
I had the same one from a seller in Germany about 1,5 years ago for 15 euros. Hope Monte prices will rise in the same order.

I have already noticed a disparity in Euro prices compared to prices in the USA (lower).
I don't see why a pristine Monte/Scorp should have less value than a MGB!

i think the large sum paid for this item has more to do with the girlfriend deciding that is the xmas present i am getting from her whatever happens rather than a general hiking in prices due to rarity of said item!...
i can't fault her and love her more for the thought..

I won't fully open this can of worms, but as an MGB owner (more correctly, the two B's we have are my wife's), I get it. Most people are not after great performance, just fun top down driving in a car that's pleasant to be seen driving - convertibles are about seeing and being seen. The Scorpion's high-performance looks on the other hand, write a check that the car in stock form cannot cash ...and no real rag-top person would consider it a convertible. The only thing that saved the X1/9 from similar fate was the targa top. Unlike the B, the Scorp is not enough about "being" a convertible to gain the unconditional love ragtops get, especially British ones. It's that simple. This is one of the reasons you can get a good condition MGB-GT (Pinninfarina body, BTW) cheaper than than ratty B convertible.
