The dash won't illuminate when the lights are switched on from the column stalk. All the guages, speedo, rev counter, etc work including low fuel light and blue flash main beam light. Please can anyone suggest something to fix it??? :(

In the meantime a Maglight works best with rechargeables. (the dimmer isn' t turned to min.)

please help.

...you could try jumping the dimmer out entirely for starters.
Also, try pushing the button INWARDS, I think this pegs all dash and idiot lights, or recall hearing this somewhere.

andybeta,

I find that my Beta has the same problem as yours, the remedy I've found is to switch it on and off three or four times in order to get some electricity flowing...it points to a bad earth, or similar. I probably should get round to having a look at the earth but somehow I can always find something more pressing to do...

Try having a look at the earth(s), it might also be a loose connection. That's what all of my electrical gremlins have turned out to be.

I wouldn't be all that worried if I were you. The only time I've ever had all the electrics on mine working properly were during the first two hours of ownership...

Cheers, and good luck tracing it

Dash illumination can be a good idea in the uk when driving at night due to all the speed cameras.............Plus it's nice to see what the guages are saying. I've not bothered for a year or so as other things have been more pressing............but now it's getting annoying. have tried fiddling with the dimmer switch/knob with no success. It is a loose connection, but I don't fancy pulling out the instrument panel or chasing the wiring loom, but I guess I'll have to at some point. Just thought if any one else had had the same prob and had solved it how they did it?
