Just got round to attempting repair of the Vapour pump on my VX and can't work out how to get the thing off. There are 2 bolts which go into the yellow plastic casing of the pump but these are just turning round (making a clicking noice) when I try and unbolt them. The other way that looks possible is to undo the nut which holds the pump bracket onto the charger/engine - but you've then still got to get the pump off the bracket to remove the motor and replace it.. Anyone done this and have any advice??

Can't remember off hand but it sounds like the inserts in the side of the pump are spinning, you may have to cut/drill the heads off the bolts to release it then worry about how to get the tails out once it's off.

Thanks for the advise Fingers - It looks like this was the only way of doing it as the brass splined "nut" that is inserted into the plastic body of the pump was just turning round in the pump body. Used the Dremel to lop the Bolt Heads off and off it came..Now I've just got to work out how to glue the thing back together!

Something like a good super glue may hold the insert long enough to get the tail of the bolt out, and araldite(trade name) may stick the cap back on.

You may find you can drill a small diameter hole through the housing body and into the insert, then stick a small hex key or equivalent in to "dowel" the insert from moving, thus allowing the bolt to be extracted. Personally, I'd ditch the whole thing, as the Vx has an abundance of superflous parts, the "vapor pump" being one of the most annoying.
