The stock alloys are stamped 5 1/2 J x 14 H 2 - 3 4.

This translates to 5-1/2" wide by 14" diameter, 34 is the offset in millimeters.

I hope this helps.

For the stock 8 spoke alloys...

Overall a rim is approx 168mm wide. To the insides of the tyre beads (usually how actual rim width is measured) is 140mm (5.5 inches).

From the outer edge to the mounting flange is approx 51mm.

From the inner edge to the mounting flange is approx 118mm.

The centreline is at approx 84mm (1/2 of the 168mm O/A width) ....so the mounting flange is offset outwards (negative offset) by 33/34mm. (84 - 51 or 118 - 84) (give or take a 1/2 mm)

While the stock wheels' offset is 34mm, as budgetzagato stated, the real offset issue re: your mystery rims depends on how wide they are (presuming of course that they have the requisite 4x98mm bolt pattern!). As rules of thumb, you don't want total total inside width (i.e., half overall width plus the offset) to exceed stockin order to avoid rubbing the tyres on the suspension and whatnot, and you don't want total outside width (i.e., half overall width minus the offset) to exceed available wheelarch coverage. Moreover, you don't want overall tire diameter to exceed stock, also to avoid dangerous rubbing and keep the speedo's inherent dishonesty within reason. ;)

I've already done the math here (http://lancisti.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=8217#8217); looks like your wheels' 8mm offset would be about right for a... 7.5"-wide wheel? Frankly, I'm not sure if the outside width at that size would even fit within stock arches. If yours are narrower than that, you'd need to bolt some pretty thick spacer(s) under, or in place of, the stock shim (which holds the brake rotor on as well!).

bbb34mm offset ONLY for 5.5" wheels, like the stock wheels. For 7" wheels, 8mm is pretty close to maintaining proper inside clearance, might fit okay if you double up on the rotor mounting plates/spacers (using longer bolts to account for the greater thickness of plates!).

I got a little less that 32mm positive offset on the FWD Zagato/coupe 14" wheels (by measurement= 31.7mm).

Here are specs for mine, ana bunch collected by Dave Voss:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lancia Beta 2L FWD(Zagato)
5-1/2Jx14H2 34
Width overall: 6-11/16" (170mm)
Backspace: 4-19/32" (116.7mm)
Offset: 1-1/4" (31.7mm) Positive

Note: The flange lips are symmetrical. I measured four of these to be nearly identical- apparently they aren't really the 34mm offset they are labelled as, my accuracy should be +/-1mm of absolute -WH

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cromodora CD99 "Iron cross"
5Jx13H2 47.5
Width overall: 6-3/32" (155mm)
Backspace: 4-7/8" (124mm)
Offset: 1-13/16" (46.5mm) Positive

Note: This would work well as a "space-saver" spare for a Scorpion, it has a large backspace but will still clear the lower spring perch.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Compomotive 2pc. Modular
7Jx16 Rim, FH500/4 or FH 600/4 Centers
Width overall: 8" (203mm)
Backspace: 4-17/32" (115mm)
Offset: 17/32" (13.5mm) Positive

Note: These are similar in appearance to the 3pc modular "TS" series or the Cromodora Daytona a.k.a. "Ferrari 5 spoke" wheels. This set came from Val Danilov, the wheels are not shown on Compomotive's website. I assume they are an older style model.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ROH (ZR6?)
7Jx15
Width overall: 7-15/16" (201.5mm)
Backspace: 4-7/8" (124mm)
Offset: 29/32" (23.25mm) Positive

Note: These were installed by my car's PO, Jeff Davison. ROH is an Australian company that sells import and custom wheels that are widely available. This particular model is now discontinued, It matched the styling of the discontinued ZR6, but is a 15" wheel, the smallest size shown for the ZR6 is 16".

Hi guys, since you're talking about front wheel drive offset, I have a question. I'm having handling problems with my Fiat 128. Despite realigning the rear wheels and replacing the lower arms and bushes and shockers, it's very nervous around corners, particularly on initial turn in and it has a mind of its own on dirt roads. It's wearing eight slot Cromodoras from a 124, could this be upsetting the behaviour of the car? Or did the standard rims have no offset? Do eight slotters have any offset? I know this isn't a fiat forum, but I'm sure someone has an answer.
Thanks.
Jeremy.
