What's the experience/feeling about converting from the standard Marelli points system to a breakerless one? Or to a CD ignition?

I've done conversions on my British and American cars, and liked the results, but this is my first Italian car, and I'm clueless about what's available and whether it's worth the time and effort.

Has anyone done this with their Fulvia, or considered it and abandoned it as a bad idea, or seen it done on other's cars?

My Fulvia gets used during the week for short commutes, and on weekends for blatting about and the occasional Sandro Munari imitation (though I'm planning to put some miles on it on the California Melee in September).

Thanks for your thoughts on this!

I have run both stock points and pertronix in my 69 fulvia. Car run about the same with the stock coil but the pertronox is pretty much install and forget. My fear with points was always leaving the key on by mistake as I drive the car so seldom and leave the keys in the car.

I run a pertronix in my BMW 320 as the car ran crappy with the stock points and a high performance coil but I also keep the original points in a zip lock in the trunk as I have seen a small percentage give up the ghost.
