I have a 76' Beta and I would like to know how much transmission fluid to put into it. I think that it takes 80w90. If anyone knows, please help.
Thanks...

I don't remember exactly, but seem to recall it was just less than 2.5 quarts. Just dump it in a little at a time and check the stick. I'd strongly recommend ponying up for Redline MT-90. So much smoother, especially in colder weather. All but eliminated the 2nd gear cold crunch.

My manual states .64 US gals. I also recommend the MT-90.

More props here for the Redline MT-90, or their MTL (~80-wt.) should do about as well if more readily available locally (as is likely), especially if yr winters aren't horribly bitter. Straight "mineral 90" from your local petroleum supplier would be the cheap, non-synthetic equivalent. The latter may be the (cheap) way to go if you have any tranny leaks, at least until you can get those sealed. In either case, 2 quarts will suffice adequately to fill -- remember to pull both the gearbox and differential plugs whenever you drain and refill!
Whatever you do, do not get any GL-5 or EP (Extreme Pressure) rated tranny/gear oils, which are the most commonly available, if not the only available, at most retail outlets in the US. While those will nominally work okay in a pinch (hey, better than no lube at all!), they will wear out your tranny (synchros especially) prematurely and simply will not shift as smoothly.

the Redline is really effective, much smoother shifting

Redline is definitely the way to go but I wish I could just stop it leaking from one of my diff oil seals.

Thanks for all the info. It looks like Red Line is the way to go...
