Hello all, I have been a member on these forums for some time but I have never made a post until now. I have been interested in owning an Lancia for some years now, but I feel that I am still in the research phase of the process. I am interesting in pre- and post-Fiat models, but this question pertains specifically to the pre-Fiats. Are there good books (in English) out there that pertain specifically to pre-Fiat Lancia models? I am interested both in books that give a model history of several models, as well as those that delve into only one particular model. Lancia's history is what makes it so fascinating to me, as well as the great level of variability in each car amongst other Lancias and non-Lancias of the period.

Specifically, I am interested in Flavias, Fulvias, Appias, Ardeas, and Aprilias (though my dream is a Flaminia GT...maybe one day).

Also, if anyone themselves would be interested in selling pertinent books they own, feel free to PM me.

Thanks!

There's hoards of books, the default English language book on Fulvias is:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lancia-Fulvia-Flavia-Collectors-Guide/dp/1899870520

By the same author you would want La Lancia for it's marque history:

http://www.allautobooks.com/book.php?book_id=1726

Brooklands do reprints of road tests for all kinds of cars:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lancia-Fulvia-Portfolio-1963-1976-Brooklands/dp/1855201631

I would also recommend once you've digested those, Lancia Racing by Nigel Trow, and if your Italian is up to it or you just like tables and pictures ( :) ) then both Storia della Lancia (http://www.allautobooks.com/book.php?book_id=1235) and Altorio (http://www.rallyandracing.com/oxid.php/cl/details/anid/451465887ca5fc088.88673720/lang/1/cur/1).

They are my "top of the pops" for Fulvia and the general marque but I've probably got 50+ books on various Lancias and or Lancia associated topics (such as "The Rivals" by Nixon)

Neil's covered it well. I'd say the second one on his list, Weernink's La Lancia, is the best for the full range of models that interest you.

Here are a few pics of some of my favorite Lancia books.
The very best reference book is the Catalouge Raisonne., but its very expensive.
La Lancia is excellent as is the small red book by Michael Frostick. It covers all the early coachbuilt cars nicely.
The big coffee table book put out by Autocar is a very good collection of many technical articles that have been published from the very early Lambda's all the way to the Gamma. I've seen a few copies around in the $20 range.
The Holy Grail of books for me anyways, is the factory parts manual for the Flaminia. I've seen a few come up for sale on evil-bay but have always lost out. I have it on disc but a good original would be nice.

Although I see you have the 1st Edition of "La Lancia" there is a 2nd Edition Published 1994 ( which imo is the best one, particularly for detailed information and quality of the paper) and the 3rd Edition Published 2006, which came out just prior to the 2006 100th Anniversary Meeting in Turin, where many of us collected our copies or bought one at the Event.
Although I've seen Catalogue Raisonee, and is a very nice set to have, "La Lancia" as far as I'm concerned is the Bible.
If you're interested in the Lancia Commercials and Military Vehicles then Fondazione Negri's "CAMION LANCIA" in English And Italian is a great book. Editoriale Domus also publish some very good books on Lancia, two being "Tutte Lancia" of which I have two version, the earlier one being in Italian only, but the Later Version "All The Lancia's 1907-2002" was available in Italian, and an English version, although this is very hard to get hold of.
This lists all Lancia with a short history, specifications and prices new from 1907 Alfa 12HP to Thesis 2002 onwards, with many of the different models in the range being listed seperately, then right at the back comes all the Competition Lancias , a Chronological listing, and Model overall production figures, the only downside, if indeed that is a problem, is it's all in high quality black & white, with no colour at all.

As Neil says there are a lot more available in Italian only, but even the English or dual language versions will keep your wallet empty for some considerable time as a lot of them have increased in value considerably in recent years.
I note you have the Frostick Lancia book, I bought mine about 18 years ago and it
was my first Lancia book, for which I paid about £2 Sterling, these days you'll be lucky to find a copy via a book dealer for under about £80 Sterling.
I really must get around to drawing up a list of all my books and publications as I also collect Lancia Brochures, and anything from anywhere that mentions my Fulvia 2c Berlina; I also have a number of Italian, French and English motoring Magazines from the 1960's & 1970's that refer to the 2c.
I could go on but I think that's enough for now:encourage:

My advice is:
the 2006 edition of the Weernink's book, is the most complete in English. Later , if you want to know more in the details, buy a specific book about a model.
