What size Allen wrench do i need to pull the oil drain plug on my '79 Zagato. Doing my first oil change this weekend, and I don't have much of a selection in big size wrenches.
TIA,
Paul B

The "original" oil drain plug on the Betas is NOT! I repeat NOT an allen plug! it is a torxe plug and you need a #60 torxe. I have one you can borrow but I picked mine up at Sears also for about $5
Yours may have been replaced with a Fiat plug, (if it is indeed an allen), but make sure as you will strip out the drain plug if you try using the allen wrench on a torxe drain plug, BTDT, I found out the hard way, it's a "B" to get it out once you have stripped it too!

Jim, I don't know where you got your Torx drain plug, but as a former factory mechanic, the only non- hex plugs I ever saw were on post 1982 cars 'grey marketed' into the US. Some of the pre Beta lancias used a 10mm hex and some of the very late Fiats used a Torx, but all of the official Betas used a 12mm hex.

Well, in the last 7 years, I have had over 27 Zagato's, 10 Beta Coupes and two Scorpions, (and about 35 Fiats), most parts cars I stripped mind you, only a couple Lancias had allen plugs, (all the Fiats did), all the rest were torx. Not sure how many you changed oil on when you were a mecanic or what ever, I just know what I have experienced over the last several years stripping, eBaying and restoring them. :)
