I fitted the nice new carb I had kicking around to Mario weekend before last - it wasn't raining  - and noticed something a tad alarming :( whilst I was mid operation....
VX owners will know the throttle linkage between the carb and cable is via a small braided steel cable which mounts from carb to the linkage mounted on the blower inlet manifold (complicated description :!: ).
Anyway..... the metal braid was quite badly worn, despite the fact this was in good condition in September when the rebuilt engine went in. Luckily I had a new spare that came from a Lancia/Fiat dealers 'bin' but for interest I checked on the other carbs I have in my stash and oddly enough each one is down to a single bit of braid - - - - so they could snap at any moment :x Have a look at yours sharpish :!: Oddly enough, I was taking a VX engine out of a HPE the other day and the linkage 'piece' had been replaced by a piece of solid wire  nice fix 8O
