View Full Version : Valuation of a Delta Gtie

My situation is that I have about £1K's (estimated) worth of bodywork, steering and suspension damage following a car acquainting itself with my offside. The car will be an un-economical write-off to the insurance companies but in my opinion the damage is not fatal.
The car is a 1989 GTie and I wish to gain an insurance settlement that reflects the actual cars worth.
I now need to quantify the value of the car to his insurers based on it's condition (very/good to excellent), mileage (80K) and rarity value (only 29441 made according to viva-lancia.co.uk, how many were imported to UK and how many good models survive?).

If you own a Gtie, know of a very good conditioned example or know of one that has just sold let me know but any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Hello Jason,
Sorry to hear about your Delta.
Very difficult to estimate a value, there is a 1990 one on www.autotrader.nl for 1900 euros with 187.215 km on the clock.

I could provide a letter confirming condition and it's history if that helps.

Best regards, Leo Capaldi

Leo,

A letter would be ideal. Do you have my address anywhere?
If you have any free time and wish to cast an eye over the mess it is sat the same garage that you viewed my Hf Turbo (RIP!)
I definately think that it is repairable and am not going to be held to ransom by the insurers over it's value.

Cheers

You need to show bills, photos, current ones for sale etc.

they are bound to offer you 'book' price which for any lancia of this age except an integrale is zero or as near as doesn't matter, assuming you are not at fault you need to argue that the other driver is required to reinstate you to the same position you were in prior to the accident if they wish to pay you peanuts on the grounds that you can find another car of equal value to buy to replace it I would argue that as a future classic price guides are not relevant and that insufficient examples are now sold on the open market for the price guide to possibly be a true reflection of market value.

Jason,
Glad to see you made it here  Hope we can turn up something to help

I must say that Jasons GTie was probably the very best example of the type that I have ever seen  something I'm sure Leo will back up. It's sad Jason is faced with his current dilemma and if anyone can help further, please do :!:

Thanks everyone for your help so far. I'm accumulating quite a dossier now with regards to market values etc. but anything else you can impart will help, the more the merrier. I'm in for a fight but would like to go in as armed as possible.

Leo,

sent you an e-mail with details.

Cheers again

Thanks for everyone's help.
I recently received an offer of full liability from the other parties insurers and managed to negotiate a deal with them for a cheque to cover the estimated full cost of repairs without the car being written off as Cat C/D.
This I feel was due to the amount of literature I was able to send them to show what a fantastic classic car the Gtie is....so she'll be on the road again soon.

Cheers Hamish, Leo et al who helped.

Will be glad to partner any Lancia in British motor-sport...I don't think I will be taking the Delta to the stages though, I can do enough damage on road rallies!
If I am part of the team though will I also be able to get a similar free paint job and borrow those fine looking seats?
