View Full Version : Indetifying an integrale 8V Kat

Without opening the bonnet, is there any way to identify an 8V Kat from the equivalent 16V integrale?

I'm interested in buying an integrale from Japan, but sometimes the blurb about the car is a little innacurate, so I want to be able to identify the different models from external characteristics.

Thanks,
Matthew

If you are thinking of looking at pictures, apart from the badges they are visually the same 8vKat/16v and 8vKatEvo/Evo16v (an Evo2 16vKat is different as the roof gutters are colour coded).

Thanks for that.
It's those sort of details that you can really only find on forums.
I guess I'll have to tread carefully.
It's really the 8V Kat that I'm after.

Another thing I need to know, for New Zealand compliance purposes, is the ground-clearance. I can't seem to find it anywhere.
Can anyone tell me what the standard ground-clearance is? Also, is there anywhere it's documented, so I can waive official-looking bits of paper at the authorities when I go to get the car registered?

Thanks.
Matthew

No Idea, 8v Integrales sit up quite high so its should be OK, try asking on the evoforum:

There are a few auzzies that come on the forum, can't recall seeing anyone from NZ though :(

I believe it's 100mm minimum ground clearance. I'm not sure how you get on with the Integrale and compliance here now, I heard from a guy in the club that they don't meet the frontal impact standards, might be something to look into. I hope you can get it in though, we need more cars like that on the road here, and less of those damn Impreza's and Mitzi Evo's.

You might want to read the following, not only is the frontal impact standard going to be a problem, but you have to convert it to RHD, which is expensive.

Hi matthew, i think you should bring a grale into nz. 8) Why a 8v kat though? The minimum clearence for any fixed item is 100mm i believe. Which in real terms is bloody low. Would guess the grale is quite a bit higher. What would you do about the impact standards? Perhaps a race car? If you ever need a test pilot i am surei can fix a date.

Hello Matty_Dog if you are still around.
The 8V cars have 6 inch wheels and 195mm tyres, 16V cars have 7 inch wheels and 205mm tyres. The wheels have the size visible on the rim. Some cars (like mine have been "upgraded" of course.
The 8V cars have a "normal" tachometer, 16V cars have the tacho scale offset by 90 degrees-ish.

Hey Matty_Dog how are you getting on? Any progress? Would love to know what you find out, I think I may have to have one too, but it won't be for a while.
