Hey, I'm Taj in Utah, I've been on here before.
My '77 Scorpion is mostly torn down in my shed. Major work, one of many projects.
Today I drove James '76 light-blue Scorpion here in Utah! His car is awesome, I didn't know he was even in Utah, he says he's a lurker on these forums.
Thanks for the ride James, it is AWESOME you have a road-worthy Scorpion that you drive on the street currently!

Nice to hear--the drive, that is, not the lurking. Hey, James, please introduce yourself and your car.

Hey taj, ed, and everyone... apologies all around, Ive been without my computer for the last week or so, and also for not being a more active forum participant, the sad fact is that I don't really type, so usually it takes me too long to post anything truly meaningful! lol. Anyway, I'm the proud owner of scorpion #1296, which I've been slowly working on for the last nine years or so. Its a rust-free California car that was in storage for about twenty years before I got it. It still needs a decent interior and a real paint job, but mechanically its practically a new car, and has done a great job of taking care of all that extra money I had lying around...I just rebuilt the engine this spring with high comp pistons, isky valve springs and a set of old-stock abarth valves. Guy croft exhaust, magnaflow cat, mallory ignition. Even with the stock cams and carb it pulls pretty well, but I'm sure I'll be upgrading those eventually as well. I'm working off my cell phone right now, but I promise pictures as soon as I'm able, at this point they are long overdue. I also have to say it was a pleasure meeting Taj, and letting him drive my car. In one of the smallest of small-world experiences I've ever had, it turns out we share a mutual friend, who only recently figured out that two of his friends who had never met each owned a scorpion! Weird.

Welcome aboard James, Im knee deep in a project of my own but it's nice to see other projects to gather ideas and share experience.

I'll be in SLC in August for a work project, would love to stay in touch and see your car while up there.

Hi Sean, it would be great to meet, but unfortunately this is my last week in Utah as I'm moving to Lincoln, Nebraska, to help out my elderly parents. I'm currently planning to pull a small uhaul behind my subaru (most of my stuff is already moved, I've been back getting our house on the market) then come back for the scorpion in a few weeks. Yes, I am going to drive it, and to that end have been prepping the car for a 900 mile road trip. Should be a grand adventure, if a bit hot (no ac). My only concern is that something will decide to break spontaneously as it waits for me to come back! These cars do like to be used regularly...

Well good luck on the drive to Nebraska in the Scorpion and in the Subaru! I would be doing the same..
