Hi, guys! My lovely Lancia is back in the garage some miles away waiting for the bodywork to start. As we get ready for the spring I am wondering where is the vehicle identification number (VIN) on the car body.

I remember there is a riveted plate on under the hood. Is it the only place? The reason why I am asking is that if body repair works (like welding) are done near the VIN number, I could run into a problem with the cops (as if I stole my car in Italy and welded a VIN from another car). So I am asking it to plan if I would need the police permit for bodywork.

The car is Beha HPE 2000 (series 2).

If I understand correctly, you'll find it on the inside edge of the small ledge which houses the wiper motor and other things like that - it's just to the right of the fusebox.

Thank you! If it is the only place where VIN is stamped that is great. Because I suspect I will have to do something with the "upside-down glasses" (we call them so in our language), to which shock-absorbers are mounted.
