Hi there,
The flexi pipe portion of my HFTurbo I.E exhaust is in need of replacement.
My plan is to fit a "sleeve" over the existing pipe work, clamping this on at both ends.
To achieve this I need to unbolt the exisiting pipework, and I have heard that this may be a tall order.
Does anyone have any labour saving tips on exhaust unbolting that they would be willing to share?
Thanks,
Martin

Hello Martin,
The four bolts that fasten the front pipe onto the outlet from the turbocharger are not too difficult to undo. The steadying clamp can be awkward but you may find that tit is not fitted to your car.
I have done this on a Delta HFie a few times. First time I replaced the flexible bit with the flexible bit from a Tipo Turbo Deisel. That meant shortening the existing front pipe then fitting in the Tipo bit (which is sold a separate unit). Second time I fitted an extension to the front pipe that was a nice sliding fit over the second pipe. I left it slack except for MOT times and that worked quite well except that fumes sometime came in. Third time was to fit a piece of spiral flexible exhaust pipe as a "sleeve" this was frustrating as the spiral-ness caused the sleeve to tighten as I slid it over the existing pipes.
Sounds like you will be trying the latter trick - just make sure that you twist the flexible bit so that it opens up rather than reduces in diameter.
Good luck.
