Hi,
to add to the few jobs the cars having the rear right wheel bearing packed up. When the garage were replacing it they said they thought it happened because the rear brakes were worn out (ill contest this when i see them - i checked the discs at least and they were fine when i took it in). I was wondering if and how worn brakes could cause wheel bearing problems. Forgive me if its a stupid question.

I had this happen on my old VW, the problem was a caliper was sticking on and heating way beyond normal tolerances, therefore the hub heated and so the bearing also got a tad warm
I was told at the time this is what caused the bearing to fail - too much heat.

Chalk up another victim to sticking calipers - and on the right-rear too.
Sticking caliper = shot pads, excessive heat, destroyed wheelbearing. Moral of the story, don't delay fixing said problem.

Oh, that would explain the rumble I now have from one of my front wheel bearings. The caliper was sticking for a little while. Damn, those bearings have less than 10,000 miles on them too! :(

Lancia beta weel bearings -is the strongest of 14" weel bearings , i have seen. One type of bearings on front-rear weels- it is very good.
On Russia market they are available of 7 euro ( used on front weels of MOSKUIC russian car). I need of sketch of bearing lock-out tool- hex pin wrench- have enyone it?
