Does anyone know of any aftermarket front spoilers available for the Beta please? I'm thinking about a tasteful alternative to my VX spoiler but I suspect that there's nothing available any more.

Here's a blast from the past, one I had about 20 years ago.

I think you mean something not for the car in the pic, but just in case you dont, I have a vx front spoiler for grabs.

Cheers Chris. No I mean something for my VX. It has a perfectly decent VX spoiler at the moment but I was just thinking of something a little more exciting to replace the VX one. I had planned to get the VX one painted the same colour as the rest of the car but thought I ought to look for alternatives before shelling out my hard earned to do that.

There's a radical black one on the BetaBoyz site done by a guy in the Far East. He's used a BMW E30 spoiler and modified that. Nice car but I don't want to go as far as that. The red one above is just an example of what I had when I was a lad.

I know it's not much help now as i think it's no longer available, but LESTER used to make a body kit for the Beta. It definately involved Front spoiler, Sideskirts and arch extensions and I think a rear valance as well.

Their site http://www.lester.it had it listed about 3 years back including pictures. I've had a look today and (I guess to be expected) the site's been updated since then and no longer shows it.

I was on the look out for arch extensions at the time and actually got an email back from LESTER saying that the Beta bits were still in production but that I'd need to go thru a UK Distributor. As you can imagine most of them were used to dealing with Novas and Escorts so weren't that interested in digging any deeper.

Have you seen the Rayton Fissore edition Betas? - They may give you some pointers if you decide to get something made up - I've stuck a picture of one here http://homepage.ntlworld.com/richardjanes/Rayton%20Fissore/FissoreCoupe.jpg Sorry about the lack of quality, it's a scan.

Richard,

Thanks, it is useful to know who made spoilers before even if they're not doing so now. You never know what you might find once you start asking around about Lester spoilers for example.

I hadn't seen the Fissore kit like that before. It's along the lines of how I thought a complete plastic front and rear might look but there's something a bit too kit car about it for me I'm afraid. The picture quality is not bad for a scan either, just look at my scan above!

Just had a look at the BWM E30 stuff on the Lester site after seeing the Balck Beta on the BetaBoyz site. Maybe the way forward is something like that. Get something that was done for another car and modify it to fit. Damn difficult with the Beta though as it's such a mixture of nice curves and straight lines.

The Bayless front spoiler or air dam is fiberglass and countoured almost exactly like the one on your old Beta. It differs from the VX spoiler in material as well as design, for it does not feature the tidy returns that follow the wheel well lip. It also fits US Betas without mods to spoiler or bumper. It may be the answer for you.

Other good looking air dams I've seen are from A1 chassis VWs like the Scirocco. I have no idea as to availability or fit, bu they looked good the day.

Anyone got any photos of the Bayliss one please? The B/W image in their catalogue ain't the greatest.

BTW, the black Beta with the E30 kit on the BetaBoyz forum is getting a lot of attention now.
