Hi fellow Lancistis
As a new member on this site - joined yesterday - I hope that you might be able to help me.
I have a Lancia Kappa 2,0 LS from 1996 for which I have tried to source a spare part which seems to be unobtainable any where on the planet earth.
One of the hoses in the air inlet system (...do not know the right technical term for it...) has cracked. The inlet system consists of 3 rubber hoses and a plastic casing and the Lancia spare part no. for the whole unit is 60608042 - please see the attached file.
Can anybody tell me where I can obtain a substitute for either the cracked hose or the whole inlet unit?
Can you help me with links to webshops where Lancia parts can be obtained?
Any good ones in the UK?
Best regards
Thomas

Thomas,
I'm afraid I can't help with a Kappa, but welcome to the forum!

Hello Thomas,
Is the crack beyond repair?
I've just been having a look at my English Version of Eper and I think you're correct in that it is only listed as a complete unit.
Have you checked the other part numbers in that group as the 60608042? as some of the codes listed , such as C007 is the version of the assembly for the Automatic, C & D are only positive and negative codes, while 3145 denotes an engineering change on the vehicle, as do C3203 & D3203. and there may not be a lot of difference between versions.
It would be worth looking at other version of the Kappa to see just how alike they are to your Kappa, but being where you are I suspect there won't be too many Kappas about.
It migh be worthwhile to try a breakers or possibly ebay, but I can't remember seeing anything like this on any of the Ebay sites.
Perhaps someone in Italy or Germany, where there were quite a few Kappas maybe able to advise, We don't have anything in the UK as we never had Lancia's after 1994 when RHD went out.
It might also be worth looking at Thema as my series 3 Thema 2.016v Vis Autos had similar hoses.
I've just had another look at eper for Dedra, Thema, Alfa 164 and I'm sure if you look around the breakers for these models you will find something you can adapt to do the job.
Good luck.

Hi guys
Thanks for your feedback!
I believe that the hose can actually be repaired but so far I have not found the right solution. Do you know if there is a special kind of glue which can do the job? Is it possible to "weld" it somehow?
I have tried different breakers without positive results and I have also searched e-bay and similar. Found something similar on e-bay in Germany but it wasn't exactely the right hose. I think that I will try to follow your advise, Brian and investigate if any Alfa hoses may fit.
Too bad that you do not have Kappas in the UK. Apart from the spare parts situation which is a nightmare!!!- its a fantastic and luxurious car. A real pity if I need to dump it due to spare parts unavailability!
Best regards

Thomas,
Try 'Q' bond you can buy it online, it's a superglue but it comes with a grey and a black filler powder.
You clean up the split, fill the split with the powder than drip the superglue onto it for rigid repairs, but for your hose and the need for it to be flexible I'd be inclined just to try the superglue on it's own, I repaired a split in the seam of a Fulvia gearl ever boot the other day with no problems.
Pity we didn't get Kappa officialy into the UK but there are 2-3 Coupes, at least 1 estate, and probably a couple of saloons in the UK,
I was on holiday in the South of France soon after Kappa came out and I went into a Lancia Dealer in Narbonne, I was quite open that it was very unlikely that I would buy one as I lived in the UK, but the Dealer Principle insisted in taking me for a drive in it and made sure I had a brochure to take home with me,
About 2003 I was going to do a swop for a 2.0 Coupe that had been imported into the UK, with my 1999 Y elefantino Rosso, that I bought new in Rotterdam, but the Coupe had too many miles on the clock, and wasn't as well looked after as I would have liked (or as in the photos), so we didn't swop, but I sometimes wish I had.
good Luck with your hose.

Hi Brian
The glue you mention - is the name "Q Bond"?
I will search for it on the internet - sounds like it might do the trick.
Interesting story about your trip to France. I didn't actually know that they made a 2,0 Coupe - I thought all coupes were 3,0 6 cylinder cars. You definitely should have made the swap - a much bigger and better car. A born classic!
I have included a picture of mine - even in this standard form a beautiful vehicle!

Hi Thomas,
Have a look at this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Q-Bond-Ultra-Strong-Adhesive-Repair-Kit-FREE-POST-/280429032480?pt=UK_Crafts_Cardmaking_Scrapbooking_ Glue_Tape_EH&hash=item414adf7420
This is exactly the same as I have, but you may find it cheaper elsewhere. I
wouldn't buy anymore than this, as once the adhesive is opened unless you very carefully reseal it, it may go off.
With introduction of Kappa Coupe in 1997 a 2.0i Turbo 16v Cat (4 cylinder) was available, this was only built for 1 year.
Also in 1997 the 2.4i 20v Cat (5 cylinder) was available which was built until 2000.
A 2.0i Turbo 20v Cat was available from 1997-2000.
The line up of Coupes was completed with the 3.0i V6 24V Cat (Automatic only), built from 1997-2000. when production of all Coupes ceased.
You're right I should have done the swap, but at the time it didn't seem that much of a bargain with the high miles on the clock and general condition, unfortunately the photos the owner had posted in the advertisement, were of the car when he had purchased it 4 years previously and with only about a 1/4 of the miles that it actually had, so the photos were totally unrepresentative of the car at the time he was trying to do the swop with me!
Your photo of your Kappa doesn't appear to have loaded?
If you click on "Go advanced" then scroll down to "manage Attachments"- "Add Files"- then when finished click on "Done" your photos should be there, or did you load your photo to the Library?
Best Regards
Brian
