can any one tell me would a vx lumpy bonnet fit straight onto my 76 coupe or evan a rally bonnet for that matter cause i need some more room under ther im putting in twin 40 (dncf?) :?: i think thats what they are they are from a ferrari :twisted: and the manifld with the carbs means i can not shut my normal 76 coupe bonnet :roll: but if i start cutting holes in it and put on gt scoops etc its just gonna look silly :oops:
so can any one help and does any one have either bonnet

Although the VX bonnet will fit, won't give you the room for the carbs :( but I've seen a picture of a car with them fitted... I'll see if I can find it and post it here :wink:
I suspect a bit of cut'n'shut will be necessary...... 8O

that is quite unsightly and it is for side drafts or downdrfts but thankz for looking hamish

The early bonnets have insufficient clearance for fitting down draft carbs. All series 2 and 3 bonnets have a raised centre section that does give clearance. VX bonnets are very difficult to find and are not necessary for the application you have in mind.

best to get a later style bonnet, quite aside from anything else those early low bonnets are rare and it would be a shame to vandalise it, the raised section on the later bonnet is going to look a whole lot more neat and tidy than adding a bulge to the early type
