For my Sport restoration I am replacing the big end bearings as I have the engine apart, however the new bearings are 2mm thick (I will get a more accurate measurement) and they came in an old Glyco box with 0,508 on the end. The ones removed which are worn but not excessively are around 1.8mm thick. Does anyone know how thick new standard shells are? I cannot easily measure the bearing ID with the bore micrometer I have and my vernier calipers I have are not that suitable to use to measure the bore tonight. For reference the new bearings do not have anything stamped on the back other than the Glyco part No. Also, am I right that the 1800 big ends are the same as those on the 1500?

I sourced a second set of supposed standard shells. These measured 1.83mm thick as opposed to th 2.06mm of the other 'standard' set. This difference equates almost spot on to 2nd O/S. My worn shells measured 1.80mm, I then measured the crank pins and confirmed that the second set supplied were indeed standards and the first 2nd O/S. Many thanks to George at RTCC for speedy help on supplying the 2 sets.
