This pretty Series I 1.3S is for sale. It was 'restored' in Italy 15 yrs ago and has been in Belgium for several years since. I know its difficult to judge from photos but what do people think? Does anyone know of a Belgian 'specialist' who would be able to do an inspection?

I think this is also for sale on vivalancia. Huib who is mega expert in Holland and runs vivalancia site would probably know the car. He knows most Fulvisti in benelux.
I do like the colour....

From the pictures it looks "good", but...there are restorations and restorations. The photos major on a bodyshell restoration, they show no evidence of a mechanical restoration (I would ask about this). The chassis plate is a bit of a faux pas ! On the face of it it looks an honest 1.3S.
I don't know anyone in Belgium who could have a look - maybe Huib Geurink (http://www.viva-lancia.com/fulvia-workshop/index.htm) in Holland would be prepared to do it?
If you are after an S1 car what about this a bit closer to home: http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/classic-car-page.php/carno/99809 ?
Only a 1.2 but with a Gerrish engine probably not far behind the 1.3 in performance. The wheels are incorrect but from the photos that's about it.
ps beaten by Lancialulu :)

I'm with Neil all the way on this, I also think the RHD 1.2 is the better bet with the mechanical work by Peter Gerrish, Peter is very much a Fulvia Guru and is an acknowleged expert on Fulvia, besides anything else, being a RHD car it is a much more saleable Fulvia if you ever decide to sell in the UK, than a LHD without, I suspect, a checkable history; series 1 Fulvia's are deemed to be the best of the bunch, and having had a 1968 series 1 1.3 Rallye Coupe I'd agree with that. as Neil also points out you probably won't notice too much difference in the performance, as the real delight of Fulvia's is the handling and fun to drive at any speed.
I note it also that the original steel wheels etc are included if you're after originality, if that's the case, then Cromadora wheels are very saleable!

The Belgian car looks good, other than the obvious issues that have been pointed out (what were they thinking with that chassis plate?).
But I'd also agree that a Peter Gerrish-engined 1.2 should perform just as well as a 1.3S, assuming that the 1.2 has alloy doors and lids. If, on the other hand, it's an early, all-steel body, it will be slower (but you will truly impress your friends with the quality of the door shut).

That chassis plate seems to be a Belgian thing. This car was imported to Belgium having been registered in Italy, exactly as mine was. The Belgians insist on a certificate of conformity even on cars as old as this, so Fiat's Belgian importer issues one plus a new VIN plate (with the original number) to prove it. The same thing happened to my car, but in its case the original plate remains in the right place and the new Fiat Auto one is on the bonnet slam panel. It's all a lot of bureaucratic nonsense, and what happens if an old car is no longer represented by a manufacturer - a Triumph, for example - I don't know.

Anything but a triumph in this case. Thanks for the explanation.

The red 1.2 was at the LMC AGM. I had a good look around and it was in fine condition. Didn't check on the ali panels as I didn't click it was the same car.
