First off check the earth cable from the battery to the bell housing, these corrode, well worth changing whatever the condition.
If that doesn't help just work through the electrics, have you checked all the fuses? if I remember correctly the fuel pump relay and fuse is under the cover behind the firewall, below the wipers on the right hand side as you look in under the bonnet.

car cranks over well, so assume that the earth is good, have checked, there is battery voltage, at the + of coil and to pin 4 of the amplifier, there is continuity between ecu and amplifier and coil, there is no -ve to coil from either blue/black(from amp) or blue/white(from ecu)

took it too hickleys, found out that it was the crank position sensor

So rather than just sitting there for 6 months with the battery off, something else must have taken place in the meantime?

not that, anyone is aware of, the car was in a double locked garage with the battery removed, for added safety, no signs that anyone had been in or tampered with the locks?

Did Hickleys say what the problem was with the crankshaft sensor, had it just failed, or was it out of alignment? seems odd if the car was running before it was put away, why the sensor should have failed when you tried to start it again after 6 months.
,Unless the shock of being woken up frightened it to death!!!
