I am about to purchase a set of twin carbs for my 79 beta coupe 1600, how can I tell if the inlet manifold is fiat or beta?.

Looking in the engine bay there does not appear to be enough room - stumpy radiator too close.

On my 82 2000 coupe the radiator is completely different, being ' in' the front crossmember. Is this a special or are later cars like that or even because it is a 2000?

Does anyone have a guide to start on choke sizes, jetting etc. The 1600 engine is almost new, as standard except for ansa exhaust?

Finally, is it possible to fit these carbs to a IE engine, keeping the ignition but disconnecting the injectors, flowmeter etc?

Thanks for any info

The Beta manifold will have an angle to allow the carbs to sit level when it's all bolted together - if they don't sit level when fitted it's a Fiat manifold

You may have to move the radiator forward, but the right manifold should allow the fit OK

Swap 'em over :?:

Rough jettings for twin 40 DCOES from my old 1600 -
Chokes - 30
Main Jets - 125
Needle Valves - 170
Air correctors - 170
Idle jets - 50
Emulsion Tubes - F11
I think the pump jets were standard, but they were set up on a rolling road and every car is different....
More info on settings can be found in Guy Crofts book. These should give you a starting point - don't forget the pressure regulator and a good quality (Facet or similar) fuel pump

Finally, is it possible to fit these carbs to a IE engine, keeping the ignition but disconnecting the injectors, flowmeter etc?

Errrrr, everything is possible

Thanks for any info

Hope it helps :!:

Thanks for that, currently waiting for cambelt and other bits before bolting on the little devils. Can't wait, it has been a long time!

As for the guy croft book, not at all easy to get hold of - any ideas?

Try GC himself www.guy-croft.com he may have a few copies himself still kicking around....Also try GC if you need a properly-angled dual-carb manifold for Betas; a FIAT manifold will not work well, if at all, since the carbs would not sit level due to the Betas' tilted-back engine (same reason FIAT heads won't work well, either). Oh, also try searching Amazon (USA (http://amazon.com/) - UK (http://amazon.co.uk/) - France (http://amazon.fr/)) for old-stock/used GC books.
