Hi,

I got my rebuild kits from DJ today and don't know what the two flat rubber washers are for. I stuck one on with the odd seal, the one with a groove on it which was much thinner than my old one. Can anyone post a link to a "how to" for fiat BMC rebuilding?

Can some one verify that I have the seal and metal washer placed see attached image.

I got the front caliper seals replaced easily but wonder what everyone does for dust boots?

THANKS!

Hi, Allen

Many of our rebuild kits work for multiple applications and may have extra pieces that you won't use. I should probably clarify that on the web store.

I've attached an excerpt from the Montecarlo spare parts catalog that shows how the BMC goes together. I'll also turn on the downloads section in the next day or so and load the full file so you can see if you can download it with the new system. It'll be the only thing there for a few days, though.

Are you saying that one of the seals doesn't appear to be correct for the application? I'll pull out an old BMC as soon as I can and go through it with one of our kits to see if everything is appropriate. As always, you may return any of our parts for full refund and for whatever reason.

Regarding the caliper kits, there are kits available from other vendors that have the correct dust seals. Unfortunately, the ones we have right now work with our brake upgrade kits (returning to the store soon!) but only the piston seals work with stock calipers.

HI,

That picture helped me as I did have the metal washer and seal reversed. Thanks.
How do I get to the files section?

I understand the BMC kit fits more than one model just like a carb kit you never know if you just have left over
parts or if you missed some in the rebuild....

I had not taken apart my front calipers at the time I ordered the BMC kit they were soaking in PB Blaster. Turned out they were fine except the dust seals were trashed. I looked around the store to see what was the deal with "our calipers" that the dust seals fit in case mine were trashed but couldn't find them. I also searched around here to see if I could find them...no luck either. So what are they? Bigger Better Stronger?

I love your store and your service and go out of my way to support it, I am bummed out when I really need a part and you don't have it. I have to believe that if you had all the parts possible for Lancias no one would shop anywhere else.

So now I am going to need hoses for the front brakes as mine cracked all over when I took the calipers off. I haven't tackled the rears or the booster yet but I am sure they will need parts as well.

That seal with the lip is very loose, even with the flat washer stuck in there is is not tight. That said it is 100% better that the old seals which were swelled up twice there size. I need two major steps to get this Scorpion driving a floor to install a seat onto and some semblance of brakes.

Once I activate it, there will be a tab at the top of the page.

We offer brake upgrade kits for the front of the Scorpion, X1/9, and Fiat 124. However, they were designed by someone else so when we bought the business I decided to review the design and specifics before continuing to sell them so that I clearly understand what I'm selling. I just haven't had the time to complete that review. They will be available again very soon.

I really appreciate your support. I hope to expand the Lancia offerings a lot this summer.

I got a good start at moving the brake and clutch reservoirs rebuilding the BMC and front calipers. Forward to the rear next....

Pics of today's progress.
