The exhaust system in my Aurelia 24 is in need of replacement. I know that I can get a complete set up from Omicron, but they only offer a stainless steel option and as would be expected it is quite expensive. Do we have any known fabricators who have produced mild steel replacement options state side that I could be directed toward?

Again, feeding off my post in the "Any Aurelias out there?" Did Zane/anyone find a mild steel alternative, or easier to get them hand made by a local supplier? Anyone any idea of mild versus S/S prices?

This is a two-fer response:
Any Aurelias out there? - Yeah, I've just recently begun to follow this list and to post a few things. I'm the owner/steward of B20S-1829, which I bought from the original owner in 1976. It's been on and off the road and out of sight on mothballs for most of the past 30 years. But it's original and intact and is coming out of storage in a couple weeks. An interesting thing about this Aurelia is that it is the sister car to Geoff's Appia - originally owned by the same person, from whom I bought mine; Geoff bought his Appia 20 years later from the owner's daughter, who had inherited the car. I remember looking at that Appia in '76 but couldn't buy them both (at the time I already had one of the first Beta Coupes that arrived, as well as an Appia Sport). We've been an Aurelia family for quite some time. We've had lots of Aurelias over the years, and my commuter car for about 5 years in the '70s was an Appia Sport (Zagato) that i found on a used car lot in Indiana! I originally learned to drive on B24S-1166 when I was 14, and was handed the keys to that car in '66.
Exhaust system? - Yes, I've had good luck with the tube benders and welders at the local Meineke shops. They relish the chance to show some skill, and I've always been able to plot out the system with them, supervise, etc. You need to be equipped with your own mufflers or know what off-the-shelf mufflers you want. Also, they can hang it on your original mounts and hangers if you keep on their case. My Aurelia has such a system, as does my modified P1800 Volvo.
