I've re-painted my Scorpion and am looking for a set of black side stripes. TMH says their supplier has gone belly up. Anyone have an extra set or the pattern for them?

Thanks.

Tape it off and paint them on, it'll last longer too!

Hi Carl,

I have a set of the grey stripes from TMH - I am looking for a set of black ones too! I may well end up get them painted on instead as per Jim's suggestion.

Are you interested in them or do you want dimensions/scans of the ends, although as you can see from pics, they're pretty straighforward to replicate.

Cheers

I've got a sign making plotter, I guess I could work on producing a couple sets. I'd need to know some color choices, I thought they were all black with a matte finish, but grey also?

I was doing pininfarina decals for the front of the windshield too for a while.

Any special requests? I stopped doing alot of this stuff when ebay brought the prices down to the point that it was easier to leave the machine off...

Most body shops have a vinyl cutter for decals, lucky thing is the template is both dead simple and obvious! Should be $150.00 for the install or something like that.

I guess I could paint them but it doesn't seem the way to go as the originals were vinyl. As noted, they're pretty straight forward so I'll see if a sign guy can knock them out. I'd need black ones to match what came off.

For the record, the exterior trim and side strides were not black from the factory, even though they do appear to be at times. In fact, it can be difficult to tell unless you hold something you know to be truly black next to them.

Then you can discern that the color is actually a very dark semi-flat grey. The cars painted in solid colors had solid color stripes and the cars in metallic colors had side stripes in a metallic dark grey. As far as I know, TMH was only ever able to provide them in the metallic style.

I agonized over this when I painted my car and looked at paint books till my eyes watered. We finally found what I consider to be a perfect match for the original color. I can't remember what the name is but it's a GM color.

The paint we used is a PPG acrylic urethane and the tinting guide is DCC300379. The formula listed on the can is:

DMC902 66.9
DMC900 56.1
DMC908 26.0
DMC929 5.2
DX995 124.7

As previously mentioned, it's a snap for a good painter to mask and paint it on because it follows lines in the body that are quite obvious.

As my ex-wife (who is a painter) used to say "Nothing is truly black". Thanks for formula on this. I've decided to just leave it without the stripes for now so I can it on the road and enjoy. Will make the stripes a winter project.

Could someone measure the height of their factory stripe for me? The stripes on my car were, um, painted... I can get the rest of the dimensions off my car.

97 mm - or at least the TMH ones I have are.

Hope this helps.

We've done some research here on side stripe colours and as far as we can tell all Scorpions and first-series Montecarlos had black side stripes. When the second series Montecarlos were introduced Lancia offered black as a standard body colour and these cars had a dark grey side stripe. But that's only as far as I can tell!

In any case, The Monte Hospital will have both colours available as a full side stripe kit from the middle of next week. Our original supplier closed down so we've had to find a new source. That's done and the price will be unchanged.

Hope that helps.....

I just picked up the new kits and they look good to me. Pictures will follow soon as Linda puts a new battery in her camera!
