View Full Version : Looking for Mechanic in the Greenville SC area. New Owner of a 78 Beta HPE
78 Beta HPE

I just recently bought a 78 Beta HPE last spring and drove it back from Denver to my place in Greenville SC. I broke down on the way back in Missouri and lucked out in finding someone that could fix it and get me on the road the next day. Now I need the timing belt changed and was thinking about doing it myself but wondering whether this is a good idea for a beginner to be doing. It seems a good bit tricky. I do have the shop manual coming in the mail right now and was hoping with that, haynes, and this web site i could do it myself in my driveway, but still unsure. Does ANYONE know any mechanics in SC that work on Italian cars? I can find plenty in Atlanta but seem like none in SC.

Hey, congratulations - looks like you bought the famous Denver HPE. Okay, it's not really that famous, but it was featured on BringATrailer a while ago. Nice car, if I hadn't found my sedan I would have been really interested.
Check out my reply on another thread - for some reason this one is not showing up when you look at the list of threads under the Beta forum.

Yo ckeen74, now you & Jonathan B. can get in a bidding war
over those E-Bay struts that'll fit Sedans [Berlinas] & HPEs!
Advertised off & on seemingly forever. May the best man win.

Haha... good thing I already got my front struts, and the rears are okay so far.
