Hi all, TajMan got me thinking....... On another Scorp forum they are telling him to use the booster. Untill now I was always told to bypass it and remove it. Lancia with the MK2 Monte did remove it, so now what is the correct story? If you use the booster your fronts lock up and the MK2's do not have a booster so to hedge speculation I am going to ask the question........ apart from adapting another system entirely what is the best way to go with stock brakes? Booster or no booster and big front brakes or not?

Hi Warren,
That's a helluva can of worms you just opened! Frist thing is depends on what you're looking for in the car as far as modification and produced power.
There are many who have kept the booster in place with no problems. Sound advice is if you have one fitted and it works, leave it there and try it. If it's gone, then don't lose too much sleep about it unless you want to go for originality.
The SERIES (Not Mk) 1 car (Monte/Scorp) had a antiroll bars front and rear, whereas the SERIES 2 car had different steering geometry, no rear antiroll bar, different front hubs, bigger brakes and wheels and no servo, but a brake proportioning valve.
Should you fit big front brakies? No, not unless you fancy causing more lockup in your brakes!! Read through some of the posts here - there are a lot of options out there from improving just the fronts with something like the WHOA Brakes to a full replacement with 4 pot calipers and vented discs all round.
Cheers and hope this helps!

Has anyone thought about plumbing in the rear brakes to the booster on a stock series one?
If all brakes are boosted you are less likely to suffer easy front brake lock up. You can always add a line lock to the rear brakes if they lock easily, which is essentially what the S2 proportional valve does.
Since the booster is already in the engine bay, I would think a re plumb of the rears would not be all that difficult. Has anyone tried it?

I was wondering the same thing, mine at the moment has the Vac line disconnected so no boosting will happen.
