Following a tip today led me to this listing on the Albuquerque Craigslist for a Beta Sedan for sale for $500. Looks like a parts car perhaps, but for those of you so inclined, here's the link to the ad:

The best part of the ad is that it reads, "...it was very fast indeed..."

And the always enlightening 'ran when parked'. Hmm, I've even used that one myself, though. A couple times when I had 'parked it' just a few minutes earlier...in a restaurant parking lot...or at a gas pump. Or even in my driveway! Maybe this seller had every intention of driving the sedan shortly after parking it, and it just wouldn't do it. BTDT!

Yup, and the old "Runs Good" claim.....that only means it starts when you turn the key, nothing about it only runs on 5 cylinders when it's a V8, or any mention of all the oil, fuel and antifreeze smoke that pours out the exhaust, or anything like that......I asked a guy once I who I was looking over his car that was for ale why he claimed it ran good when it was missing so bad and smoked like hell, he proclaimed in a defensive yell, also in a WV or eastern KY accent: "cause it starts every time!", but he wasn't the only one I have ran into like that thru life, nor has my experiance been limited to cars when it comes to false claims, I have Been There "Seen" that Sooooo many times! LOL
Still......$500, if only it was closer

"runs and drives": everyone who's looked at the car runs and drives away...

hahahaha. +1 on the very fast, and I own one!
That said, if it were closer to home I'd check it out. Let me know if you buy it!

On a positive note, I think it's safe to say it no longer needs a clutch...

I saw the ad last week and forwarded it to Murilee Martin from Jalopnik for their "Project Car Hell" piece. Good for a chuckle http://jalopnik.com/5352212/pch-divina-commedia-edition-toyota+powered-fiat-1100-or-lancia-beta-berlina
