Dear All,
I'm seeking a set of 4 (or even 5) Cromodora Daytona style wheels for my '76 Scorpion. Used, new, new-old-stock? What have you?
Thanks,
Mark

You mean like this set that I have in my garage? I would prefer to sell wheels/tires (tires are pretty new) together unless the offer is enticing enough for me to go to a tire shop to separate them out. Sorry but I don't know what the shipping cost is yet.
Feel free to drop me an email with your offer at julian911@aol.com.

This is what your scorp would look like mounted with these wheels...

Julian, are those 13 or 14 inch?

14" and the PO warned me not to sell because they're very rare but I just could not resist trying to go for a wider tire look :D

I have those same wheels with Toyo Proxes R888 205 X 55R14 DOT approved racetires like these:

Much wider than my old Pirelli P600s with same size. Have to use 2 stock 'spacers' welded together to keep from rubbing the Konis and completely fill the wheel arches. Don't know how you can get any wider.
Are you still on stock Scorpion springs?

I now have 16" Superlite wheels with the widest road tires I could find at Discount tires (I think 245/40) and they still don't look that wide. Part of the problem is that my car is sitting kinda high and that doesn't help.
But DJ is helping me with my suspension on our joint project and that should help greatly :D

Julian,
Please let us know how those 245s work. I'm a little concerned that you're not going to like the steering response, and I'm very curious to learn if you think the increased grip is worth the trade-off.

Ed,
I drove the car very hard with the Viper guys and it drove just fine. I much prefer the 16" low profile tires over the 14" wheels that I had. It felt better over all.

What is the offset on those wheels, Dave?

Dear All,
Julian Pham and I have come to an agreement as regards his tires and original Cromodoras and he'll ship once he's back from Germany.
Thanks to all who responded, advised and supported. Lancisti represents one of the Internet's finest communities of auto enthusiasts and friends.

PS My newly rebuilt engine (top end, bottom end - everything) installs this weekend. Oh, happy day.

Ed, just looked at my tires and they are 225/40/16, exact same overall diameter as my 14" rims/tires set up.
Mark, cromodora wheels/tires shipped!

And you're running those with the stock struts and springs, right? What's the offset of those wheels? Using any additional spacers?

Hi DJ,
Yes, original shocks and springs. Can't remember the offset of the Superlite wheels but the seller was very knowledgeable about Alfa Romeo and Fiat and knew what offset I needed. No spacers at all right now and am thinking about adding 1" spacer :)

Thanks, but my concern with steering response had to do with the additional tread width rather than the diameter. Apparently a non-issue, as you've already said.

Sorry for late reply. 22 is the offset.
